As the International Labor Day on May 1st approaches, the city’s trade union federation held a celebration event on April 26th to honor outstanding individuals, set exemplary role models, and further foster a positive social atmosphere that celebrates labor as the most honorable, noble, great, and beautiful endeavor. During the event, our employee Guo Chenggang, representing Shentong Optoelectronics Company, was proudly awarded the "Zhuzhou City May 1st Labor Medal."
Since joining our Shentong Optoelectronics Company in 2002, Guo Chenggang has steadily grown alongside the company, consistently taking charge of equipment maintenance as well as overseeing equipment certification for various system accreditations. Known for his dedication to his job, unwavering commitment, relentless pursuit of knowledge, and diligent efforts in technical expertise, he has risen from an ordinary technician to a senior skilled worker. Over the years, he has been honored with titles such as "Advanced Individual," "Model Worker," and "Zhuzhou City Technical Expert" at Shentong Optoelectronics. Moreover, the maintenance team he leads has repeatedly earned recognition as an "Advanced Collective." Notably, in 2014, he secured second place in the fitter category at the Lusong District Vocational Skills Competition, and in 2017, he claimed first place in the mechanical repair fitter category at the same district's competition for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Having worked in the Equipment Department for over ten years, Guo Chenggang has consistently remained dedicated to his post, tirelessly putting in the effort. In 2005, when the company relocated, he and his colleagues braved scorching temperatures, working more than 16 hours a day for three consecutive months—living and eating right in the workshop—to successfully complete the dismantling and installation of all equipment. Whether it was expanding the company’s product lines or upgrading its production capacity, he led the maintenance team to work overtime without complaint, ensuring that new equipment was installed and properly debugged on schedule, along with the design and installation of essential utility systems like water, electricity, and pipelines—thus guaranteeing the smooth operation of the company’s production processes.
In addition to handling routine tasks, Guo Chenggang has also been deeply immersed in professional research, dedicated to enhancing the overall efficiency of the entire plant. In 2007, the company’s single-strand cable twisting machines designed for producing five types of cables could only accommodate 630 spools, and each spool was capable of producing just 14 boxes of data cables. After careful analysis and precise measurements, he determined that the equipment could actually support up to 800 spools. With the backing of his leadership, he independently undertook the equipment modification, enabling each spool to produce 30 boxes of cables—significantly boosting production efficiency.
In 2013, the optical cable oil-filling device he developed earned a national utility model patent and was subsequently integrated into all of the company’s oil-filling equipment, effectively replacing the outdated, inefficient systems previously in use.
By 2016, the company’s original ink-shaking machines had fallen short of meeting production demands. In response, Guo Chenggang independently designed and built a new shaking machine capable of simultaneously agitating 48 bottles at once, dramatically improving the efficiency of the coloring process. This innovative design not only enhanced productivity but also led him to file a national patent application.
